Chapter 16

It was a fine morning and as always Chrisia prepared breakfast and made sure to wake Heirra up. It’s been a month since the death of the victim and all was quiet, which is very suspicious. Heirra got up and got dressed. Today’s breakfast was just a french toast. After finishing it quickly, Heirra waited impatiently for Chrisia to finish.

“Why are you in a hurry?”

“You see? My little brain cells are working again and I think I’ve found something about the murderer of this case.”

“Oh really?”

“Yup. You see, I tried to provoke the CEO the other day, and he didn’t budge. I tried asking him if he is gay. He hesitated meaning he is gay! So it might have a connection with Mark. Chrisia promised me that you’ll forgive me?”

“What did you do?”

“Just promise me okay?”

“Fine. It’s not that serious right?”

“Just eat hehe. I’ll drive you.”

“Don’t you always?”

Chrisia finished her last bite of french toast, and they were ready to leave. After Heirra dropped off Chrisia at the company, Heirra went to her office and summoned Darwen and the others. It was quite peaceful. After the case from Lieutenant Garth, there weren’t any major cases so some of them detectives along with Garth went to a fellow major city to help with their case.

“We haven’t found any leads. So far, the main suspect is the wife. There’s a cctv that saw her leave the company at twelve midnight. It seems like she might be the only one. Plus, since even the CEO didn’t want to involve the company’s building with our investigation.” Darwen said.

“I’ve been suspecting the wife too.” Blake said.

“ I have two conclusions but i need more evidence. Mavis said that a lady bumped her right? Interesting.”

“We’re in a pinch. At this point I believe that this is actually a suicide.” Darwen groaned.

“That’s what the culprit wants. Games.” Heirraa said calmly.

‘The freak is challenging me huh? Well, I’ll play your game.’ Heirra thought.

“Let’s make a visit to the psychiatrist of the victim. Come with me Darwen. Blake and Gwenny, go interview that janitor later during his break. Don’t wear your uniform alright? I trust you guys. Unlike Darwen, you have already done this firsthand.” Heirra said.

Heirra and Darwen went inside the car with Heirra driving and left. Thirty minutes later they arrived at the office of the psychiatrist.

“Morning Doc. Hendrick. May we have your precious time? We need to ask some questions.”

“How can I help you, officer?” Dr. Hendrick asked politely with sweats coming out from his forehead.

‘Hmm.’ Heirra thought.

“We’d like to ask about Mark.” Darwen said.

“I believe I’ve already told you this much.”

“I never said anything. We just need more information, Doc. How’s Mark’s condition?”

“He's been troubled for ma- two months, you see. He’s been living a hard life. His parents left him. I was the only one who was- I mean who cared for him.”

‘Parents. Cared. better take that down in my notes.’

Heirra looked at Darwen and gave a glare signaling him not to talk and that Heirra would do all the talking.
